Admission Application Process |
|||||||||
Cambridge Friends School seeks to enroll students and families who will contribute to and gain from our academically rich, culturally diverse community founded on Quaker Principles. Parents or guardians may submit an application prior to or following their tour and interview. Completed applications, including all school reports and teacher recommendations (see links below), must be postmarked by January 8, 2010 for consideration in our first round of admission. Applications received after this date may be considered in our second round of admission on a rolling basis as space and resources become available. Parent Visit The visit, which includes a tour of the school, is an opportunity for prospective parents or guardians to talk with the admission staff about CFS and its curriculum, philosophy, and policies. The interview following the tour is an opportunity to ask specific questions and convey your goals for your child's education. Please fill out our inquiry form and our office will send you materials and contact you to schedule a visit. Application Applying for admission to Cambridge Friends School consists of the following steps:
A nonrefundable $50 application fee should be submitted with the application. Fee waivers are available for eligible families. Cambridge Friends School supplies families with the necessary forms for requesting copies of transcripts and for teacher recommendations. We request that parents or guardians manage this step so that they may retain complete control as to when a child's current school and teacher(s) are made aware that they may be changing schools. IMPORTANT NOTE: Recommendation and transcript release forms are forwarded by you to your child's current school and then returned directly to CFS by each child's school and teachers. Student Visit Days The student visit is a required step in the admission process and students may be asked to participate in age-appropriate activities. The January student visit for applicants to grades Pre-K, K, and Grade 1 includes a series of thoughtful observations and age-appropriate activities to be used as evaluative measures. Applicants for grades 2-8 have the opportunity to visit CFS for a half day of classes with their peers. These half-day visits begin October 13, and the visit should be completed by the January application deadline in order to be considered in our first round of admission.

Standardized Testing Students applying to Middle School (grades 6-8) are asked to take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) in November, December or January. Our school code is 222623. We require no formal testing for admission to the Lower School; however, if they are available, we do accept standardized test results. Admission Policies
